ENGINE FAILURES

Cessna 182
"Routine pleasure flight cut extremely short. Fortunately for me, 200agl ruled out a turn attempt although I had the natural urge to try for a split second. FAA still working on cause. Possible ignition or induction system. Site examination ruled out bad fuel, mags, separated engine components. Everything under cowling was intact. Typical pilot error components confirmed not an issue with the video. Checked primer locked once stopped, so also non-issue. Happy to be alive."

Cessna 182 Engine Failure After Takeoff

MTN-GAI: Cessna 172
It was a perfect day for instrument approaches--but the engine wasn't up to the task. Would the pilot be able to find a field? Would the airplane shake itself to pieces before he did?

October 9, 2009, KVDF-KMTH: Mooney
On the night of October 9, 2009, a Mooney pilot and his two passengers experience engine failure over the Gulf of Mexico. The pilot, realizing he won't be able to reach land, has only one option—ditch his aircraft in the rough dark waters below.

November 4, 2010, SIN-SYD: Qantas 32 - Airbus A380
Qantas Flight 32 was a Qantas passenger flight that suffered an uncontained engine failure on 4 November 2010 and was forced to make an emergency landing at Singapore Changi Airport. The failure was the first of its kind for the four-engined Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft. On inspection, it was found that the aircraft's No.2 engine (on the port side nearest the fuselage), a Rolls-Royce Trent 900, had a missing turbine disc. The aircraft had also suffered damage to the nacelle, wing, fuel system, landing gear, flight controls, and to the controls for engine No.1.

RUNWAY INCURSIONS

Korean Air B-747 almost collided with China Air Cargo B-747 that crossed the wrong runway on its way to the ramp.

December 19, 1999, PVD: United Airlines 1448 - Boeing B757
This is a recreation of a real life runway incursion by United Airlines B-757 at Providence, RI.  It was a very foggy night and no aircraft was visible from the tower (even though the weather looks clear in this animation.)  Very often the hardest part of the flight is navigating on the ground.
